'Burning' Shortlisted for Academy Award for Best Foreign Film

Director Lee Chang-dong's film "Burning" has been shortlisted for the Academy Award for est foreign-language film. It is the first Korean film to make the shortlist.

U.S. media reported on Tuesday that nine films including "Burning" and the Japanese drama "Shoplifters" have been selected in the best foreign-language film category.
The final five nominees will be announced on Jan. 22 next year. The 91st Academy Awards will be held in Los Angeles on Feb. 24.
The film was recently named best foreign-language film by the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and the Toronto Film Critics Association.
