'Romantic Guy' Alex Melts Fans in Japan

Singer Alex, the vocalist of Clazziquai who released a solo album last June, held his first solo concert in Japan at the Cece Lemon Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo 7 p.m. this Tuesday.

He opened the show with his hit romantic number "If it is you" and sang various songs to the accompaniment of a 12-member band including trumpeters and saxophonists.

The repertoire included "She Is", the theme song of the hit Korean drama "My Lovely Sam Soon", "Miss understand" from his solo album, "Feel like making sunshine", the jazz ballad "Day Dreaming" and a waltz piece "Waltz lesson".

He also sang a hit by the Safety Zone, "Bye grief", in fluent Japanese and also sang " Daisy ", "Flower pot" and "Coming home" while playing the piano. He showcased a total 24 songs this night.

During the show, he took out his cell phone camera and took a shot of the audience.

In 2005, Alex helped produce the remix album "DOPE SPACE NINE" by leading Japanese hip hop artist M-FLO. He also toured Korea with Clazziquai members.

In 2007, he also took part in M-FLO's 5th album "COSMICOLOR" with top Japanese artists such as Namie Amuro, Koda Kumi and Bonnie Pink. He was featured in the song "Love me after 12AM".
