Actress Han Ye-seul to Help Promote 3rd Korean Day

Actress Han Ye-seul has been named the goodwill ambassador of the third Korean Day. She will officially receive the appointment plate from Foreign Minister Yu Myung-hwan of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Aug. 31.
Han is Korean American and one of the top stars in Korea. Her appointment comes from the expectation that her background will greatly help publicize the event. Korean Day is held to emphasize the importance of overseas Koreans to Korea and vice versa, and to strengthen the identity and enhance the pride of being Korean.
Various events and discussions are planned for the day, including a seminar on policies regarding overseas Koreans, lectures by overseas Korean guest speakers, a photography exhibition, and essay contests.
The Korean Festival and International Forum for Korean Politicians hosted by the Overseas Koreans Foundation will also take place during the events, the ministry said.
