Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon returned home Tuesday (May 29) after winning the award for Best Actress at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
On arrival from Paris at the Incheon International Airport, the 34-year-old star said she was very surprised when her name was called at Cannes.
Jeon won the coveted award for her gripping performance with co-star Song Kang-ho in the movie "Secret Sunshine", directed by Lee Chang-dong.
"Even without thinking of the Best Actress award, just being there was a true honor", she told reporters and fans.
The production team and stars of the movie, including Lee and Jeon, are to hold a press conference on Wednesday (May 30).
Jeon is the second Korean actress to win top laurels at an international film festival. The first went to Kang Soo-yeon for her performance in the movie "The Surrogate Woman" at the 1987 Venice Film Festival.
