And now it's time for the arts and culture segment with our Michelle Kim. Today, she has news on PSY's visit to Australia and a preview of a photo exhibition in Insa-dong.
Hello Michelle
[Reporter : ] Hello Han-ul
So what will you start us off with today[Reporter : ] Singer and international superstar PSY is in the land down under to promote his worldwide hit "Gangnam Style". I hear he's making the rounds on television and hit a film set to dance with an X man. Take a look.
South Korean pop icon PSY performed his global hit "Gangnam Style" Wednesday morning on the Australian Seven Network's "Sunrise" breakfast show.
The show was broadcast live on a stage set up at Martin Place, in the heart of Sydney's central business district.
On the show, PSY expressed his excitement about having attracted so much attention in such a short amount of time and seemed unconcerned about whether he'll be able to follow up the song with another hit.
[Interview : Psy, Singer] "The thing is, even if it is one hit wonder I don't care because still, look at them, today so beautiful, so this is OK".
The show came before his Tuesday appearance on the reality audition show "The X Factor, Australia", where he and former Spice Girls member Mel B. danced to the song together.
The dance wasn't planned and Mel was reluctant at first, but she finally went up on stage saying, "My daughter will kill me if I don't do this".
Later that day, PSY met up with Hugh Jackman on the set of "Wolverine 2", where he taught the "X-Men" star his signature dance.
Both celebrities tweeted pictures of the encounter, which they said generated a lot of laughs for them and everyone watching.
"Gangnam Style" is number one on the ARIA singles chart in Australia.
PSY wraps his Australia visit with a performance Thursday before leaving for Los Angeles on Friday.
While there, he will work on his first U.S. album, which is slated for release at the end of November.
I love hearing about PSY's performances abroad. Each time, it makes me feel very proud to be Korean. Do you know where he'll be after he finishes his trip to Australia[Reporter : ] I do. As of now, PSY will be staying in Australia until today. Afterward, he heads to the U.S. where he'll attend a radio and awards show and work on his new album. He's slated to release his first U.S. single in English in November. After that, he will head over to Europe to attend the MTV Europe Music Awards on November 11th.
That's good to know and I'm sure you'll be giving us more updates in the future. But in the meantime, I hear you went to an exhibition yesterday[Reporter : ] Yes I did. It's a photo exhibition portraying the life and work of Korea's diplomats, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Take a look.
Korea's diplomats are a hard working yet often underappreciated group of people whose contributions to presenting a polished image of Korea to the world are worthy of recognition.
Now, a new exhibition in the Insa-dong neighborhood in central Seoul aims to pay tribute to Korea's diplomats through a series of photographs documenting their lives and work.
Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the exhibition continues at the Kyung-in Museum of Fine Art until October 23rd.
The photos depict diplomatic events in Korea and overseas and show how the events come together, from the extensive rehearsals and late-night meetings beforehand to the actual event itself,.. and the photos are placed in chronological order to show how events progress.
The exhibition is divided into six sections, 'Wait', 'Language of the Logistics and Protocol Officers', 'Restrained Passion', 'The 3rd Eye', 'Before The Departure', and 'All For One, One For All'.
It seems like a very unique theme for a photo exhibition. How was it[Reporter : ] Well, it was very interesting to what happens behind the scenes of such huge events. The public may not be very familiar with the roles and duties of a logistics officer, so I feel like this exhibition will give them a better sense of what they go through.
But this is their first exhibition so there's room for improvement. It would have been nice to see more text or other media about each section explaining what these people do and why.
Still, it sounds like you had a good experience. And now to wrap things up, you have the events bulletin for us[Reporter : ] I do. Singer Lee Suk-hoon will be performing this weekend so for those of you who want to go to this is your last chance to make reservations. In December, rock band Boo-hwal will take the stage, and next year, Irish rock The Script will take the stage in Korea. Here are the details.
[Reporter : ] This bulletin features 3 events
SG Wannabe vocalist Lee Suk-hoon will perform in his first solo concerts at Ewha Womans University's Samsung Hall from October 19th to the 21st. The singer promises to present songs that will melt the audience's hearts during the chilly fall season.
Rock band Boo-hwal will perform two concerts on Christmas Day at the Grand Hilton Hotel's Convention Center. The hotel is offering special overnight packages that include concert tickets and a one-night stay at the hotel.
Irish rock band The Script performs for the first time in Korea on March 27th at Ax-Hall. The modern rock band plays a genre of music called Celtic Soul, which is a mixture of soul and rock and has been a huge hit with fans. The band's first two albums debuted at number one in Ireland and the UK.
Thank you for the update
[Reporter : ] My pleasure
