K-Pop icon BoA and actor Joo Won have split up less than a year after going public with their relationship, BoA's agency SM Entertainment said Monday.�

The two stars acknowledged their relationship in January, saying a mutual interest in music, acting, and golf brought them close.

Joo Won has been fulfilling his mandatory military service in Cherwon, Gangwon Province since May.
