China's Liaoning TV is launching a new program that would teach the Korean language to Chinese viewers using Korean films.
The title of this new program is Tien Tien Korean, which roughly means 'Day-by-Day Korean'.
Although similar Korean-learning programs were produced previously in China, this is the first time that a top-rating entertainment channel is offering a daily Korean corner.
The program shows viewers 1-minute-long clips from Korean films. The dialogues from the clip serve as as the study subject of the day. A Chinese emcee then asks some questions and a Korean emcee comments on them.
The first segment of the program will broadcast a clip from Oh! Happy Day starred by Jang Nara, a very popular Korean actress, and teaches the words 'an-nyeong' and 'an-nyeong-ha-se-yo'.
"The objective of this program is to provide Chinese viewers, who are already familiar with the Korean culture, a fun way to learn the Korea language using Korean films and TV dramas such as Jewel in the Palace ("Dae Jang Geum")", said an official at Liaoning TV.
