According to industry sources on the 17th, news circulated that Yoo Ah-in was in talks to star as the male lead in "Vampire", a film currently in preparation by director Jang Jae-hyeon.
In response, a representative from Yoo Ah-in's agency, UAA, stated, "Nothing has been decided regarding his appearance in any project", drawing a clear line regarding rumors of his comeback. Director Jang Jae-hyeon also told some media outlets, "Yoo Ah-in's casting is not true, and nothing has been decided regarding casting yet".
"Vampire" is the new work by director Jang Jae-hyeon, who previously directed "The Priests", "Svaha: The Sixth Finger", and "Exhuma". The film is reportedly inspired by "Dracula", the classic novel by Irish author Bram Stoker, and aims to begin filming in the second half of next year. Director Jang proved his box-office power with "Exhuma", released last year, which drew 11.91 million spectators.
Meanwhile, Yoo Ah-in was tried on charges of habitual drug use, including propofol and marijuana. In July, the Supreme Court finalized his sentence of one year in prison, suspended for two years, and he is currently staying out of the public eye.
