The director has also been replaced. Directors Kim Gok and Kim Sun, who led Season 1, will not be returning. Instead, Kim Jung-min-XI, who wrote the script for "Family Matters - Season 2", will take the helm. Kim Jung-min-XI, known for writing dramas such as "Suits" and "Hush", will be making his directorial debut this season.

Released in November of last year, "Family Matters - Season 2" is a thriller about a mother with the extraordinary ability to edit memories freely, who teams up with her family to deliver hellish retribution to villains.

Planned as a six-episode series, the drama drew attention for portraying, through a brutal narrative, the process of a non-biological family, mother Yeong-soo (Bae Doona), father Cheol-hee (Ryu Seung-beom), grandfather Kang-seong (Baek Yoon-sik), and twin siblings Ji-hoon (Lomon) and Ji-woo (Lee Su-hyun), becoming a true family.

Season 1 proved its explosive popularity when, just one week after release, its viewership surged by more than 225%, ultimately ranking No. 1 among all Coupang Play series in both unique viewers and total watch time during the same period.

Meanwhile, "Family Matters - Season 2" is expected to finalize key casting soon and enter pre-production.

Ryu Seung-beom is joining the Netflix drama "The Dealer" as Hwang Chi-soo.
