[Festival] PARIS CINEMA, the festival of every cinema
Published on | Source
The PARIS CINEMA Film Festival was launched in 2003 by the Mayor of Paris Bertrand Delanoë as a popular summer event. Presided over by director Costa-Gavras and supported by the Paris City Hall, PARIS CINEMA has become, year after year, an eclectic and ambitious festival with more than 450 films screened and 20 venues all around Paris.
PARIS CINEMA includes an official selection of international films in competition, a series of premieres and sidebar programs covering a spectrum of styles and film genres (shorts, documentaries, experimental films, animation films, classics, silent movies and films for young audiences…), tributes or retrospectives, free open air screenings, workshops and professional meetings.
The Festival is a unique occasion for the public to meet French and international prestigious guests. It is a festive opportunity to discover films and discuss cinema issues along with guest talents and professionals.
Last edition's guests were, among others: Jackie Chan, Michael Cimino, Javier Bardem, Tim Roth, Jeanne Moreau, Oliver Stone, Chung Chang-wha, Walter Salles, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Isabelle Huppert…
Conceived as an exciting promenade between Cinemas and Paris as well as a popular summer event in 15 movie theaters and other unexpected venues all around the city, its exceptional admission price of 4€ per screening - if not free for some prestigious outdoor events - attracts the largest possible audience of Parisians and tourists: more than 70,000 spectators in 2005.
PARIS CINEMA will open its 4th edition on June 27 and, for 14 days onwards, will keep on celebrating Cinema and Cinemas through films, talents and passions…
