Film About WWII Sex Slaves Tours U.S.

"Spirits' Homecoming", a film directed by Cho Jung-lae about two Korean girls forced to work in a Japanese military brothel during World War II, began a tour of the U.S. last Saturday.

Cho was inspired by a drawing by Kang Il-chul (88), a surviving victim, which depicts her memory of Japanese soldiers taking young sex slaves to a burning pit.

This film focuses on a fictitious Korean girl who is forced to work as a sex slave for Japanese soldiers. It was mostly crowdfunded by about 70,000 people.

It will be shown at the University of Connecticut and Brown University on Thursday and at Northern Virginia Community College on Friday.
