G-Dragon Fails in Appeal Against Military Fitness

G-Dragon of boy band Big Bang has failed in a request for a re-evaluation of his fitness for mandatory military service.

A panel turned down his request last month, a military spokesman said Sunday.

Requests can be filed if a conscript for one reason or another claims to be no longer fit for active duty. If the request is accepted, he will be put on reserve.

G-Dragon filed the request for "personal reasons".

He was drafted into the Army in February last year and deployed in a frontline unit in the 3rd Infantry Division in Cheorwon, Gangwon Province.

But he has been accused of shirking or getting special treatment several times, including when he commanded a single bedroom in the military hospital in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province for ankle surgery for a whopping 40 days last June.

He received the customary promotion to the rank of corporal later than his comrades because he missed a lot of training.
