The album has amassed total sales of 7,000 copies in just two weeks since its release early this month. Released on June 8, it sold 4,000 copies on that day alone.
"The achievement makes him the first solo K-pop artist and second K-pop act overall to have an album spend multiple weeks at No. 1 on the chart", Billboard said.
Meanwhile, the album's release in a USB format containing links to downloads, rather than actual song files, has caused controversy in Korea. Korean music streaming site Gaon Chart does not include the format in its album-sales counts, defining an album as a physical object containing music recordings.
"It's possible that G-Dragon will be an unfortunate victim of [Korean] chart history and that similarly created USB flash drive albums or other alternative formats will eventually be counted", Billboard said.
