Girl group Kara has signed an exclusive modeling contract in Japan, a Japanese news outlet said Wednesday.
The K-pop stars were selected as the new face of make-up company TBC, daily Sankei Sports reported, as part of a "TBCxKara Campaign". Advertisements are scheduled for completion by Feb. 1 and to be broadcast on TV and other media the following day.
Three of the five Kara members ― Nicole Jung, Han Seung-yeon and Kang Ji-young ― will take part in the campaign.
As the advertisement was decided before the group announced the cancellation of their contract with DSP Media on Jan. 19, photo shoots and filming for the commercials took place in a Seoul studio, the newspaper reported.
"Kara is the most well-matched face for TBC with their healthy, bright image and outstanding proportions", a representative of TBC said.
Four of the girl group members filed to cancel their contract with DSP, citing issues of mistrust, verbal abuse, and an unwanted focus on commercial endeavors.
The group rose to fame in the Japanese market last year making its debut there in August with single "Mister".The track rose to the No. 2 spot on the Oricon charts.
