Stamps featuring K-pop star group Girls' Generation will be released next month.
The Korea Post and the girl group's agency SM Entertainment said Tuesday that the postal service will issue Girls' Generation stamps in early August.
It is the first time for the Korea Post to directly make a contract and issue stamps featuring entertainers.
"We chose the nine-member girl group as they are leading the K-pop boom across the world", an official of the Korea Post said.
Commemorating the fifth anniversary of the hallyu (Korean wave) group's debut, the special edition stamps will be produced in a 14-piece set - one for each of the nine members' images featured in their third album "The Boys" with their signatures and five stamps featuring their album covers.
The price of the set will be 20,000 won.
The stamps will be on sale at the nation's 50 regional post offices. They will also be on display at the 2012 Korea Philatelic Exhibition to be held at COEX in southern Seoul between Aug. 9 and 13.
"We expect the Girls' Generation stamps will contribute to the development of philatelic culture and help spread the Korean Wave", the official said.
Made their debut in 2007, Girls' Generation has gained popularity not only in Korea but also in many Asian nations, with their acclaim reaching Europe in recent years.
