Go Hyun-jung has cast her all-time leading character, a 'serial killer mother' as her comeback. "Queen Mantis" will air on September 5th on SBS's on Friday and Saturday.
Jeong I-sin, played by Go Hyun-jung, is a person who brutally killed five people and became a death row prisoner, and will launch an unexpected joint investigation with her son who becomes a detective to solve a copycat crime case. She is determined to show a new face through her complex character involving 'guilt and hatred'.
Go Hyun-jung said, "The charm of the work itself was considerable. I lost track of time as I fell in love with the interesting story unfolding in every episode", expressing her expectations for the comeback.
In line with this, she recently released a behind-the-scenes story of the poster shooting on her YouTube channel, drawing attention.
Lee Young-ae will return after playing the title role Kang Eun-soo in KBS 2TV's Saturday-Sunday drama "Walking on Thin Ice" which will be released on September 20th. Her appearance on KBS will be the first time in 26 years since the drama "Invitation" in 1999.
In "Walking on Thin Ice", she is at the center of a unique story in which she steps into a taboo world due to a 'drug bag' she accidentally acquires after being an ordinary housewife and parent.
Lee Young-ae said, "Kang Eun-soo is an ordinary mother and wife who is in touch with reality, but it was interesting that she gradually changed into a character beyond the essence", adding, "I thought I could act comfortably like Lee Young-ae, but the process of changing the character later came as a big challenge".
In the recently released trailer, Lee Young-ae attracted attention by delicately expressing the emotions of Kang Eun-soo, who seems to hide something, but is changing with desperate eyes, through acting.
In the 2020s, the two also share a precedent that they gained great acclaim as "the first female actors in the narrative" that colleagues and seniors and juniors would envy.
Go Hyun-jung was in Netflix's "Mask Girl" and Lee Young-ae was in tvN's "Maestra: Strings of Truth".
