According to industry sources on June 29, Gong Seung-yeon has received an offer to star in the new drama and is currently in the final stages of discussions. Since the project was previously reported to feature Lee Jun-hyuk, attention is already building around the pair's potential on-screen romance.
"A Casual Lie" is based on the hit web novel of the same name by writer Kim Eon-hee. It shares its fictional universe with "Iseop's Romance", which is set to star Lee Jong-suk, and has garnered a strong following both in Korea and overseas.
Lee Jun-hyuk is reportedly set to play Tae Joon-seop, the handsome and exceptionally capable grandson of the chairman of TK Group, a prominent conglomerate. Gong Seung-yeon has been offered the role of Yeon Woo-kyeong, a copywriter who unexpectedly enters Tae Jun-seop's life.
As the two dramas share the same universe, "A Casual Lie" and "Iseop's Romance" are being developed simultaneously under a pre-production system. The project is a joint production by Bon Factory, known for romance hits such as "Lovely Runner" and "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim", Ace Factory, which produced the "Secret Forest" series; and A-Man Media.
The drama will be directed by Jo Hyeon-tak, who helmed last year's critically acclaimed JTBC drama "The Dream Life of Mr. Kim".
