Netflix series "The Trunk", which will be released on November 29th, is a mystery melodrama about a secret marriage service that begins to be revealed by a trunk floating on the lake and the strange marriage story of a man and a woman. It will deeply delve into the complex emotions of characters related to 'term marriage', including love, compassion, salvation, obsession, desire, loneliness, and emptiness, and portray their relationships densely.
While the previously unveiled teaser posters and trailers have heated expectations, the character still released on the day draws attention as it includes a normal and special marriage from the unusual first meeting between 'term couple' No In-ji (Seo Hyun-jin) and Han Jeong-won (Gong Yoo).
First of all, No In-ji's intense visuals toward her fifth marriage partner, Han Jeong-won, draws attention. The indifferent expression that contrasts with pure white wedding dress also raises questions about the character, No In-ji. Seo Hyun-jin is expected to portray the empty and dry inside of No In-ji, who has become alone because of her marriage. "No In-ji is courageous and scared, but she is selfless", Seo Hyun-jin said. "I wanted to express the emotions of 100 to the minimum of 10", She said, raising expectations for her new character.
Han Jeong-won stimulates curiosity with a cold and lonely atmosphere in his sensitive eyes. Han Jeong-won, who faces No In-ji, who fills the vacancy where his ex-wife Lee Seo-yeon (Jung Yun-ha) left, is curious about what kind of change No In-ji will make. Gong Yoo said, "He is living an emotionally unstable, lonely, and impoverished life. I acted thinking that he was a person with strong self-defense, who does not reveal his true self or heart", making people even more curious about the character Han Jeong-won, eaten up by anxiety and loneliness.
Above all, the meeting between Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo excites the drama fans in itself. It is expected that Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo will maximize their immersion by building up the process of two men and women who have their own secrets and pains through detailed emotional lines. Director Kim Kyoo-tae emphasized, "Expectations for Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo were the top priority in directing "The Trunk"", and added, "It was more than expected. It was a lovely combination for the director to work together, praise and encourage each other".
Meanwhile, "The Trunk" is based on the novel of the same name by Kim Ryeo-ryeong, and director Kim Kyoo-tae, who directed the drama "Our Blues", "It's Okay, That's Love", and Park Eun-yeong-I, who wrote "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth".
