[HanCinema's Drama Review] "Triangle - Drama" Episode 21

After some vagaries Dong-soo makes clear to Yeong-dal that Yang-ha is the last brother, and from this point Yeong-dal spends most of the episode sulking. This is pretty understandable, given that they've spent most of the drama being horribly antagonistic to each other. Although I did find it curious that the scene where Yang-ha sent Yeong-dal to jail wasn't included. Personally I'd think that was the most humiliating put down in the relationship, not the one where the little brother mocks Yeong-dal's English.

Yang-ha, for his part, spends most of the episode begging for and receiving amends from his adoptive father. The sum result of all this is that the actual plot of "Triangle - Drama" is now at pretty much the exact same place it was before Yang-ha's dad decided to slow it down. For the most part the material here is filler, and while Yeong-dal's general sense of hesitation is understandable, it doesn't really come off as well with every other character in the story.

I suppose Jeong-hee does make some forward progress, although it really isn't the forward progress I'd like to see. Are we really going to end this drama with a wedding? There are plenty of dramas where that's appropriate, and this really isn't one of them. Although I did like Yeong-dal and Yang-ha taking a break right in the middle of the story to go on a hiking date. It was cute. Irrelevant, but cute.

Speaking of irrelevancies, apparently a lot of the outdoor shooting takes place in the Digital Media City district of Seoul. The result is that I keep feeling like Yang-ha's adoptive family owns a broadcasting conglomerate. Yes I'll admit it- my mind wandered a lot here, but that's because very little of any actual consequence happened this episode. Everyone just stands around talking about the things they're going to do- they rarely ever actually do anything

The result of this is that the few scheming scenes we do get tend to be very relaxing. It's nice whenever Yeong-dal stops his moping and deals with his subordinates and their subtle ways of managing and manipulating events. And it's also nice when we get to the end and Yeong-dal stops moping, finally makes up his mind on what to do, and we get a dramatic cliffhanger. Hopefully at least Yang-ha will have some decent emotional scenes next time. Or trickery. I'll take either one really.
