[HanCinema's News] "12.12: The Day Nominated for Six Asia Film Awards

The Asia Film Awards recently announced their nominations for the seventeenth iteration of the continental awards ceremony. Leading these nominations is "12.12: The Day" which has been record-breaking in its home region of South Korea. The film which was inspired by the real-life 1979 coup d'état has been nominated for six awards. These include Best Cinematography for Lee Mo-gae, Best Editing for Kim Sang-beom, and Best Supporting Actor for Park Hoon for the minor categories.

In the major categories, "12.12: The Day" has earned nominations of Best Actor for Hwang Jung-min, Best Director for Kim Seong-su, and Best Film. Elsewhere, "Sleep" earned nominations of Best Actress for Jung Yu-mi and Best Screenplay for You Jae-sun. "Smugglers" earned nominations for Park Jeong-min and Go Min-si in the categories of Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Lee Dong-joon earned the sole nomination for "Road to Boston" for Best Original Music.
In other technical categories, "Concrete Utopia" earned nominations for Best Production Design for Cho Hwa-sung, Best Visual Effects for Eun Jae-hyeon, and Best Sound Recording for Kim Hyun-sang. Jin Jong-hyun also earned the sole nomination for "The Moon" for Best Visual Effects. The award ceremony for the Asia Film Awards will be held on March 10th 2024 in the Xiqu Centre of the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong.
