[HanCinema's News] AStory Stock Stabilizes Following "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" Concurrent Interest Drop

The stock price for the television drama production company AStory has settled at a slight incline of 26,900 won, or around twenty American dollars, as of 9:50 AM Korean time on August 16th. The news appears to signal the end of a downward trend for AStory stock following a major run in mid-July. AStory had abruptly become a hot commodity owing to the unexpected popularity of the television drama "Extroadinary Attorney Woo" which airs on ENA.

At the height of the run on July 13th, "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" was trading at prices as high as 35,000 won before the price began to drop. AStory stock price had been quite low as recently as June 23rd, when it was trading for only 17,000 won. Historically, however, this dip was actually more unusual for AStory than high prices which "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" had prompted. AStory stock traded for 29,000 won back in March.

There's no obvious reason why AStory stock was trading so well at that time. Their most recent project then had been "Jirisan" which generally underperformed fairly high expectations. At that time, AStory was still working on their two currently airing dramas "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" and "Big Mouth" which, as legal dramas, were relatively risky in the South Korean market. Internationally, though, both dramas did manage to achieve distribution deals with major streaming services.

"Extraordinary Attorney Woo" is available worldwide via Netflix, while "Big Mouth" can be seen on Disney+. Domestically, "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" had ratings of 14.646% ratings in its fourteenth episode which aired on August 11th. "Big Mouth" had ratings of 10.8% in its most recent episode, the sixth, which aired on August 13th. Both dramas have also shown commanding influence across South Korean social media, outperforming nearly every other currently airing television show.
