[HanCinema's News] Bae Hyeon-seong Talks About "Our Blues"
By William Schwartz | Published on
Recently actor Bae Hyeon-seong gave an interview about his performance in "Our Blues" where he stars as one part of a greater ensemble as a high school student in a forbidden relationship. Though filming on "Our Blues" has long since completed, Bae Hyeon-seong confessed to still thinking about his time making the drama. Bae Hyeon-seong claims that filming ended in December of last year, and that with every broadcast he thinks about how he'll never do that role again.

In describing the script reading, Bae Hyeon-seong noted how at that time he wondered to screenwriter Noh Hee-kyeong whether his character should be as strong-willed as he was. Bae Hyeon-seong observed that though his character was portrayed as having as similarly as strong a will as his father, played by Park Ji-hwan, in the end he was still a child. But Noh Hee-kyeong encouraged Bae Hyeon-seong to show that strength in more subtle ways, such as his actions or the look in his eyes.
Bae Hyeon-seong also praised his elder co-stars for encouraging him and telling him that he did a good job. Bae Hyeon-seong confessed to having his own doubts about the quality of his work, but their praise emboldened him. Bae Hyeon-seong noted that the experience of seeing them on-screen, rather than as his co-stars, was a peculiar one. Bae Hyeon-seong considered Kim Woo-bin to be the most peculiar of all his co-stars, as Bae Hyeon-seong has long been a fan of the older actor.
According to Bae Hyeon-seong, he's admired Kim Woo-bin ever since "School 2013" where he made a noteworthy appearance. But he dared not say as much to Kim Woo-bin directly, despite the fact that Bae Hyeon-seong mentions it all the time in interviews. Bae Hyeon-seong has sheepishly admitted to hoping that Kim Woo-bin never finds out. Bae Hyeon-seong has also admitted an interest in action movies, citing his on-screen father Park Ji-hwan's appearance in "The Roundup" as inspirational.
As a new actor, Bae Hyeon-seong is still working on establishing his career, and has made the most of a career that started with a minor appearance in "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" back in 2018. He's already been confirmed as the second lead in "Gauss Electronics" which is expected to premiere on Olleh TV later this year. "Our Blues" had ratings of 10.949% in its most recent episode, the fourteenth, which aired on May 22nd.
