[HanCinema's News] Bong Joon-ho Promotes "The House of Us"

Director Bong Joon-ho has come out in support of "The House of Us". The upcoming film by writer/director Yoon Ga-eun is the follow-up to her widely acclaimed 2016 film "The World of Us", which dealt with similar subject matter - namely the joys and sorrows of children who are left to mostly look after themselves.

Bong Joon-ho connected with the cast and crew of "The House of Us" through Jang Hye-jin, who played one of the children's mothers in the 2016 movie. Bong Joon-ho has likened "The House of Us" to a ray of sunshine filled with sadness. He compared Yoon Ga-eun to Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami and Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda in terms of mastery when it comes to directing child actors.
Bong Joon-ho also made a point of praising the vivid colorful beauty of "The House of Us", saying that she understood the importance of using pastel tones to bring out special qualities in a movie's script. He offered thanks and congratulations to Yoon Ga-eun inimitatable style. "The House of Us" will open in South Korean theaters on August 22nd.
