[HanCinema's News] Chae Jong-hyeop Starts Big Year Off With Award Win

Last week actor Chae Jong-hyeop won Best New Actor at the 2022 South Korea First Brand Awards. It's an auspicious start this year for the 27 year old actor. Chae Jong-hyeop is a late comer to screen roles, with his first credited appearance being in the web-drama "Rumor" from 2019. But his profile improved rapidly with a role in "Stove League" as the young pitcher of the popular drama's sports team, which in general focused more on baseball management than baseball play.

But 2021 was where Chae Jong-hyeop really hit his stride. After another sleeper role in "Sisyphus: The Myth" as a hapless delivery boy, Chae Jong-hyeop wowed viewers as the second lead in "Nevertheless" in a contrast made all the more striking by the drama's theming. Where Chae Jong-hyeop was a gentle boy next door, the male lead, Song Kang, exhibited alluring yet toxic behavior.
On the strength of that performance, Chae Jong-hyeop is now set to lead the upcoming KBS drama "Love All Play" where he once again plays an athlete, this time in the sport of badminton. He will play opposite Park Ju-hyun, another up-and-coming performer who appeared in "Mouse" last year. "Love All Play" does not yet have a set airing date, but is expected in the first half of this year.
