[HanCinema's News] Choi Young-soo-I Accused of Assaulting Co-star
By William Schwartz | Published on
Choi Young-soo-I has been embroiled in controversy following a live airing of the EBS program 'Tok! Tok! Bony Hany' where he appeared to have physically struck one of his co-stars. In a YouTube broadcast he can be seen in the background jerking around in a violent manner after the program's feel emcee tugs on his right arm. This event was noticed in the comments and quickly turned viral.

Due to the short nature of the offending footage, as well as the fact that most of it is obscured, as Choi Young-soo-I and his co-star are standing in the background, it is impossible to tell the extent to which he is being violent versus just playing around. Much criticism has centered around Choi Young-soo-I's angry expression and the violent looking tone of the altercation, arguing that it is problematic even under a sympathetic interpretation.
'Tok! Tok! Bony Hany' has stood behind Choi Young-soo-I and strongly asserted that he did not engage in any violent actions, and that the offending moment was a personal joke among staff gone too far. They apologized for the sequence in question provoking such concerns about physical altercations on set, and also announced that live broadcasts would be suspended for the foreseeable future to insure that such inaccurate impressions do not arise in the future.
