[HanCinema's News] CJ Looks to Improve on Banner Year With "Exit - Movie"

Following surprise ten million plus viewer hits with "Extreme Job" and "Parasite" CJ is now looking toward more deliberate success with "Exit - Movie". The film opened at 11 AM on July 31st with 25.2% of reservations. This was a slight uptick from the previous day, when "The Divine Fury" held the edge in reservations, and that gap has continued to widen.

"Exit - Movie" centers around a young couple who are trapped in a city that is being quickly overrun by poisonous gas. Though romantic undertones are expected, the two, played by Cho Jung-seok and Lim Yoona, do not know each other very well. Promotional material has emphasized the comic undertones of the storyline.
Like "Extreme Job" and "Parasite" before it, though, "Exit - Movie" is relying more on word of mouth through social media in order to make an impact. It seems like, given the relatively low profile releases of "Extreme Job" and "Parasite", CJ's main strategy with film right now is to avoid overselling its concept. Clocking in at only a hundred and three minutes and with a humorous tone, "Exit - Movie" is likely seeing to capitalize on brisk pacing.
