The upcoming romantic comedy "Like Flowers in Sand" has confirmed most of its starring actors. Jang Dong-yoon and Lee Ju-myoung, who had previously been reported as considering the leading roles, are now the confirmed leads in the drama. Yun Jong-seok, Kim Bo-ra, Lee Jae-joon, and Lee Joo-seung have also been confirmed for supporting roles. The title of "Like Flowers in Sand" refers to Jang Dong-yoon's character, the traditional Korean wrestling prodigy Kim Baek-doo.

Lee Ju-myoung will take on the role of Oh Yoo-kyeong, who hails from a family of Korean traditional wrestling coaches. Kim Jin-woo-II of "A Model Family" from Netflix last year will direct the project. Won Yoo-jung of "The Lies Within" from OCN in 2019 will write the script. The core concept of the drama has been described as a traditional Korean wrestling sports story that takes place alongside a romantic comedy.
The lead roles had already been known to some extent. The new announcement also contains information about other previously unknown roles. This includes Yun Jong-seok as Min Hyun-wook, who comes from unfortunate circumstances to dominate life in the Geosan Market area. Yun Jong-seok recently appeared in "Our Blooming Youth" as the second lead. Kim Bo-ra will play Joo Mi-ran, a mysterious woman who manages a cafe.
Kim Bo-ra last appeared in the feature film "The Ghost Station" which premiered in South Korea on April 19th. Lee Jae-joon will play Kwak Jin-soo, who has long been the rival of the lead character in the sport of traditional Korean wrestling, and has become an ace competitor since being overshadowed by him back in school. Lastly, Lee Joo-seung will play Jo Seok-hee, a patrolman who is the best friend of the leading man.
It is not yet known what dynamic event will draw all these characters together. However, the character descriptions make it clear that much action will take place in the Geosan Market area. "Like Flowers in Sand" is expected to start airing in the latter half of this year, although it is not yet clear which television network or streaming service will broadcast the romantic sports drama.
