On May 29th distributor Lotte Entertainment of "#ALIVE" released supplementary material about "#ALIVE", which is set to be released in South Korean theaters on June 24th. The material included statements from first-time writer/director Cho Il-hyeong about the upcoming zombie movie and what kind of story the cast and crew are trying to tell with it.

First Cho Il-hyeong emphasized the variety of situations that would appear in the movie, in spite of the fairly limiting constraints of the main characters being trapped in the same general area. The idea that the main characters will try to communicate is one of, what would you do if you were in this situation? The stakes are thus intended to be appropriately weighted by the viewer identifying with them.
The characters are in this way framed as ordinary, and stuck trying to find plausible realistic solutions to an inherently outrageous situation. The two leads are also very different from each other personality-wise, with Yoo Ah-in's character having fallen into a virtually permanent state of panic, while Park Shin-hye's character has adapted by obsessively planning an eventual escape.
The presence of certain popular brand name consumer products in the movie was also confirmed. However, Cho Il-hyeong stated these were not intended as product placement so much as an acknowledgment of how much of our daily lives revolves around technology such as phones, drones, and cordless speakers. Camping supplies also make a noteworthy appearance in "#ALIVE", a hobby whose precepts are of obvious relevance in a zombie apocalypse themed world.
