[HanCinema's News] "Escape" Begins Streaming on South Korean Digital Platforms

On August 26th, the action film "Escape" began streaming on digital South Korean platforms. This marks the informal end of the movie's fairly successful theatrical run. As of this writing, "Escape" has confirmed 2,559,425 admissions at the South Korean box office, much of it backloaded on the strength of recommendations of theatergoers. "Escape" opened on July 3rd with a relatively modest admissions of only 737,577 confirmed viewers through its first weekend.

"Escape" stars Lee Je-hoon as a North Korean soldier who attempts to defect over the demilitarized zone. Overall, "Escape" is now the fourth highest performing South Korean film of 2024. If foreign films are included, "Escape" is the sixth highest performing film at the South Korean box office this year. Well Go USA screened "Escape" in the North American theaters on July 5th two days after its South Korean release.
