[HanCinema's News] Final Two Episodes of "Snowdrop" to Air Back-to-back on January 30th
By William Schwartz | Published on
On January 22nd jTBC announced that the final two episodes of "Snowdrop" would air back-to-back on January 30th, starting at 10 PM Korean time. Previously, the presumed final episode of "Snowdrop" was scheduled to air on February 5th. The two-episode-a-week order became unsynced last year when an extra episode aired on December 24th, a Friday. "Snowdrop" airs on Saturdays and Sundays.

The reason for the rush to end "Snowdrop" stems from the controversy the television drama has long been embroiled in regarding the story's depiction of eighties era politics, with some alleging that "Snowdrop" buys into right-wing propaganda about North Korean spies. Originally "Snowdrop" had a twenty episode production lineup. This has since been reduced to sixteen.
For South Korean television dramas to have expedited broadcasts is quite unusual. They're far more likely to suffer delays due to preemptions from sports game or breaking news stories. The fact that Disney+ licensed "Snowdrop" internationally may have saved the drama from outright cancelation due to the controversy, as jTBC would likely have faced hefty fines for breach of contract had they tried to cancel it. "Snowdrop" had ratings of 3.017% in its most recent episode which aired on January 16th.
