[HanCinema's News] Free Events Announced for Jeonju International Film Festival

The city of Jeonju and the Jeonju International Film Festival recently announced free events for dnizens of the city to celebrate the event. The special programs are also a celebration of the lifting of social distancing guidelines. Consequently, the city of Jeonju can now hold an opening concert for the first time in three years, as COVID-19 regulations had been effect until April 18th. The concert will take place on April 27th at seven in the evening at the public platform on film street.

Free movie days have also been announced at Jeonju Cinematown, the only independent theater in Jeonju. Over three days, April 30th, May 1st, and May 5th, six films will be playing at that location. These include "Waikiki Brothers" and "Little Forest" from director Yim Soon-rye, and "Not Out" from new director Lee Jung-gon which premiered at the Jeonju International Film Festival last year. "Aloners" from director Hong Sung-eun, also from last year's festival, will be playing.
In animated fare, director Lee Seong-gang's films "My Beautiful Girl, Mari" and "Kai - Animation" will be represented. Lee Seong-gang more recently made "Princess Aya" but that film has not yet been given a theatrical release date. "Princess Aya" is finished and appeared at the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival back in 2019. The Jeonju International Film Festival will take place from April 28th to May 7th this year.
