[HanCinema's News] "Hansan: Rising Dragon" Sets Another Record for Early Admissions
By William Schwartz | Published on
Two days ahead of its July 27th release in South Korean theaters, "Hansan: Rising Dragon" continues to show extremely robust numbers in early admissions. According to the Korean Film Council, the historical war epic now already has 150,000 confirmed ticket purchases. For comparison, "The Roundup" earlier this year only had 112,508 early admissions before it opened in theaters. "Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds" in 2017 had 68,749 admissions.

These numbers are double what "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" had in 2014, that spiritual prequel to "Hansan: Rising Dragon" being the most popular South Korean film of all the time. The last South Korean film to show early admissions numbers this strong was "Parasite" back in 2019. However, "Hansan: Rising Dragon" almost certainly has better box office prospects than that more artisically inclined film, which still was able to break the ten million viewer mark at the South Korean box office.
