On February 24th at the Chungmu Art Center Convention Hall in Seoul, actor Jo Woo-jin was awarded the Best Actor prize at the Director's Cut Awards. Jo Woo-jin earned the prize for his supporting performance in "Narco-Saints" last year, though this was far from his only project that year. He also appeared in the feature films "Alienoid" and "Hero" in supporting roles. Jo Woo-jin had to send a video greeting accepting the award, as he is currently location shooting for "Harbin" in another supporting role.

Jo Woo-jin apologized for his abence from the ceremony, stating that he was quite thankful for receiving the award and wanted to receive it in person. But as he is currently in Latvia, that simply wasn't practical. Jo Woo-jin went on to talk about how he thought receiving his role in "Narco-Saints" was a big break. Jo Woo-jin claimed to be quite nervous throughout the filming and that he had no expectations that his performance would be praised as highly as it was.
Jo Woo-jin directly expressed joy in regard to director Yoon Jong-bin, as well as the cast and crew more broadly, and finally all those who had expressed love for his character. Though apologetic for not receiving the award in person, Jo Woo-jin claimed that location shooting for "Harbin" was also proving difficult and that he appreciated the support in boosting his morale. Jo Woo-jin pledged to do his best as an actor going forward.
The Director's Cut Awards are decided by a jury of some three hundred directors currently working in South Korea. Other winners include Bae Suzy for her leading role in "Anna" last year via Coupang Play, and Park Hae-il for his leading role in "Decision to Leave" theatrically. Director's Cut Awards are given based on individual merit, and sometimes repeat. "Decision to Leave" had the most overall wins with five awards, and "Narco-Saints" was second place with four awards.
