[HanCinema's News] Jung Jae-sung Emerges as Surprise Fan Favorite in "Big Mouth"
By William Schwartz | Published on
The legal thriller "Big Mouth" has big names like Lee Jong-suk and "Lim Yoona" in the leading roles. But it's a lesser known performer that's been grabbing much of the attention of fans. This is Jung Jae-sung, who plays the role of Prison Warden Park. The little publicized role is surprisingly affable, as despite the more sinister aspects of his job, he is quite friendly to certain sorts of inmates, offering them alcohol and liquor.

At other times, though, Prison Warden Park is quite cruel, with his kind demeanor principally being reserved for more powerful inmates- as well as those on the outside. Despite the character's often abrupt personality transitions, Jung Jae-sung is quite convincing in the role as an inherently duplicitous authority figure. In one moment in the second episode, he abruptly changes countenance upon learning some important information about Lee Jong-suk's character.
Jung Jae-sung is probably best known for his role in "Prison Playbook" where he has the third-highest billing as the character of Professor Myung. However, Jung Jae-sung is quite active in South Korean dramas in general, his talents typically being reserved for roles that are minor in the overall story yet require much authority in individual scenes. He appeared in "From Now On, Showtime!" and "Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area" earlier this year.
