[HanCinema's News] Koo Hye-sun Responds to Concerns About her Health

Actress Koo Hye-sun recently issued a response to fans alarmed by her apparent sudden weight gain. In recently released pictures from the Chunsa Film Art Awards red carpet, Koo Hye-sun was photographed wearing a patterned two piece black-and-white outfit that only barely seemed to fit. Only one of the buttons on the jacket was closed, leaving most of the skirt visible. As recently as two months ago, Koo Hye-sun was thin as normal in pictures, and would have fit the outfit easily.

In an Instagram post, Koo Hye-sun explained that the reason for the weight gain was because her heart had been in pain recently. Koo Hye-sun appeared to be referring to the death of one of her dogs, Potato, about three weeks ago. Posts about Potato's death appear elsewhere in Koo Hye-sun's Instagram account. Koo Hye-sun stated that she would recover at the Busan International Film Festival, which she will be attending on October 5th and October 6th.

Koo Hye-sun has been attending these events as an ambassador for the Global Arts Fair of Singapore rather than to promote any of her own work. Koo Hye-sun has been focusing on gallery exhibitions and new age music recently, and there has been no word of her returning to screen projects as either an actress or a director. This isn't the first time Koo Hye-sun has gone through an abrupt weight change- she lost eleven kilograms after her divorce from actor Ahn Jae-hyun in 2019.
