[HanCinema's News] Kwang Jin Expresses High Opinion of Kim Da-mi
By William Schwartz | Published on
Kim Da-mi has been receiving a spike of interest lately thanks to her leading role in "Itaewon Class" opposite Park Seo-joon. The screenwriter for "Itaewon Class", Kwang Jin, who is also the writer for the webtoon that "Itaewon Class" is based on, has been effusive in his praise for the young actress, whose only major credit to date has been in the movie "The Witch : Part 1. The Subversion".

According to Kwang Jin, his participation in "Itaewon Class" was motivated in part by his belief that there were deficiencies in his original webtoon which only he could improve. Kim Da-mi, as well as other cast members, have been critical for this. One major factor where Kim Da-mi has been critical has been in terms of her character's defensiveness. Though a weaker character in the original webtoon, Kim Da-mi has elevated the role with her distinctive performance.
"Itaewon Class" is currently airing on jTBC on Friday and Saturday nights. Following the end of "Crash Landing on You" it has become the most popular prime-time television drama in the South Korean market.
