[HanCinema's News] Lee Ji-eun and Lee Jong-suk Confirmed to Be in Romantic Relationship

The MBC Drama Awards were held on December 30th. In his acceptance speech for the Grand Prize, Lee Jong-suk made a comment that immediately provoked intense interest from onlookers. He credited his award in significant part to a person who helped him to think positively and humanistically. Lee Jong-suk continued to say that he wanted to use this moment to thank this person for always being so cool, and how he had really come to like and respect this person over the years.

Lee Jong-suk claimed that when he sees this person, he lives that much harder, often thinking of how this person is a good person. Lee Jong-suk then pledged that he could put in sincere effort for such a person. Though the phrasing did not suggest this explicitly, to most observers Lee Jong-suk almost certainly seemed to be discussing a girlfriend. His agency HighZium Studio would only describe the greeting as a personal message for a friend.
However, the next day a South Korean periodical reported, with credible evidence, that Lee Jong-suk had been seeing Lee Ji-eun romantically for several months. Following this, HighZium Studio explicitly confirmed that the news report was true, and Lee Ji-eun's agency EDAM Entertainment also confirmed the news. They met on a musical variety show ten years ago and have never appeared in the same acting project.
While Lee Ji-eun and Lee Jong-suk have long been known to be friends, they are seldom seen in public together, and so have not often been mentioned in regard to such rumors. A recent exception was when Lee Ji-eun performed at the wedding of Lee Jong-suk's brother a few months ago. Neither Lee Ji-eun nor Lee Jong-suk have any confirmed upcoming television acting projects.
