[HanCinema's News] Na Moon-hee's Mother Dies

This past February 19th a person associated with actress Na Moon-hee confirmed that the actress's mother had died. A private funerary service for Na Moon-hee's mother was held in the Eunpyeong district of Seoul this past February 21st. Na Moon-hee's mother was ninety-nine years old. The cause of death was stated to be old age. Na Moon-hee herself was born in Beijing during the Japanese Occupation of China in World War II.

Na Moon-hee's mother was eighteen years old at the time and living in the Japanese imperium. They were able to return to Korea at the end of the war when Na Moon-hee was four years old. Na Moon-hee started working as a stage actress at the age of ninteteen, and now holds a wide reputation in the South Korean entertainment industry.

Na Moon-hee's best known role is probably "I Can Speak" from 2017, where she plays a cantankerous old woman eventually revealed to be a survivor of the comfort women camps. She was awarded the Blue Dragon Award for this role, one of her few leads. In general Na Moon-hee tends to be better known for supporting roles, with "High Kick" and "Dear My Friends" being some of her best known ensemble roles.
