By William Schwartz | Published on
A new movie theater has opened in the Hongdae district of Seoul. Hongdae is already home to a CGV, a Lotte Cinema, as well as an independent movie theater at the KT&G Sangsangmadang Complex, but the new theater is Megabox branded. It has five theaters and 726 seats.

Such a theater would only seem to be popular for major films. However, from September 25th to September 27th the Megabox will be holding free screenings of movies that were chosen via a popularity poll. "The Merciless", "Little Forest", "Parasite", and "Exit - Movie" were all chosen for this honor alongside many other foreign films.
The Hongdae Megabox will also be holding a guest visit screening of "Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days" on September 28th, where writer/director Kim Yong-hwa will be making an appearance to talk with guests about the movie. Goods and discounts will also be offered during the opening period of the theater.
