"Noryang: Deadly Sea" is the third and final film about the legendary Korean admiral Yi Sun-shin from director Kim Han-min. Back in 2014, Kim Han-min made "The Admiral: Roaring Currents" which is the all-time best-performing film at the South Korean box office. "Hansan: Rising Dragon" was the second film, and came in last year with respectable, but not record-setting numbers. "Noryang: Deadly Sea" depicts the final battle of the Japanese invasion of South Korea in 1598.
Elsewhere at the South Korean box office, "12.12: The Day" inched closer to ten million overall viewers with a total that currently stands at 9,565,535 admissions as of this writing. The late seventies set historical military thriller earned 143,082 admissions the prevous day. "12.12: The Day" has enjoyed a long and popular run at the South Korean box office, it having been released on November 22nd and also having been the number one movie at the box office for a whole unbroken month.
