[HanCinema's News] "One Dollar Lawyer" Cut Down to Twelve Episodes
By William Schwartz | Published on
The SBS drama "One Dollar Lawyer" recently announced that the legal drama would conclude on November 6th after only a twelve episode run. The news follows "One Dollar Lawyer" previously being reduced to a fourteen episode run from an initial sixteen episode run. The drama has been plagued by delays. Despite premiering on September 23rd, the ninth episode of "One Dollar Lawyer" only aired this past October 22nd.

"One Dollar Lawyer" aired a special episode on October 21st and will be preempted by a baseball game on October 28th, leaving only three episodes for the coming Friday and Saturdays. "One Dollar Lawyer" has had strong ratings, its last episode rating 14.9%, so the decision to cut back on episodes as opposed to extending the drama's run has been quite counter-intuitive. Purportedly the production team decided speed would allow for a more perfected product in this case.
"One Dollar Lawyer" is the latest project from its star Namkoong Min, who has long been a popular draw in South Korean dramas. Namkoong Min recently married his long-term girlfriend Jin A-reum on October 7th. It was not clear whether this had any impact on the drama's being shortened, as Namkoong Min may be unwilling to do any work beyond his original contractual obligations in his present personal circumstances.
