[HanCinema's News] Park Jung-pyo Enjoys Big Boost in Profile Thanks to "Queen of Tears"
By William Schwartz | Published on
At forty-three years old, Park Jung-pyo was still a relatively unknown name in screen acting. In recent projects such as "Dream - 2020" and "12.12: The Day" he still had to take even unnamed roles. But "Queen of Tears" has been a huge break for the middle aged actor. Though minor on paper, his role in the ensemble has endeared him to fans, as he works alongside characters played by Jeon Bae-soo and Kim Young-min-III to protect the small village of Yeongdori in a popular subplot.

More specifically, he protects Jeon Bae-soo's character, and in this role as right hand man gets into aggressive confrontations regarding subjects as petty as free rice wine. Despite these seemingly negative qualities, however, Park Jung-pyo is oddly endearing. Even in failure, as the political subplot goes through twists and turns, Park Jung-pyo makes sure to continue to open the supermarket with a smile as he faces the challenges of tomorrow.
The metaphor is an appropriate one for the difficulties of his own career, with roles that always seem to fall just short of noticeable exposure in television dramas that aren't quite as popular as he might have hoped. But "Queen of Tears" has finally made Park Jung-pyo a noticeable quantity. Though he has no confirmed upcoming projects, it seems like only a matter of time before Park Jung-pyo makes his return.
