[HanCinema's News] "Pilot" Clears the Million Viewer Mark

According to new figures released by the Korean Film Council, "Pilot" has now earned over a million admissions in South Korean theaters. The aviation themed comedy achieved the benchmark in only its fourth day of release on August 3rd, it having premiered on July 31st. "Pilot" had a very strong Saturday with 441,537 admissions, and currently sits on a cumulative total of 1,339,786 admissions before Sunday admissions are even taken into account.

The second through fourth place positions on the South Korean box office were all taken by foreign films- Deadpool & Wolverine in second, Despicable Me 4 in third, and Inside out 2 in fourth place. "Pilot" will likely face its toughest competition from "The Land of Happiness" two weeks from now although it will also compete with "Revolver" next week. Both of these films are dramas, however. "Victory" on August 14th may provide more direct competition.
