On March 26th, an official representative for the tvN serial drama "Queen of Tears" denied a recent news report claiming that lead actor Kim Soo-hyun was being paid six hundred thousand dollars per episode. The overall production cost of "Queen of Tears" is thirty million dollars. At sixteen episodes, Kim Soo-hyun alone would be getting paid nearly ten million dollars for the role- leaving only twenty million dollars to pay for the rest of the drama.

Kim Soo-hyun is a highly sought-after actor, with his appearance fee for Coupang Play drama "One Ordinary Day" totaling three hundred and fifty thousand dollars- the highest for any actor at that time. But even this is only a little more than half of what "Queen of Tears" is alleged to have been paying him. "Queen of Tears" is a popular drama, with its sixth episode hitting ratings of 14.1%, although there were no guarantees of its popularity ahead of time- its first episode only had 5.8% ratings.
