[HanCinema's News] "Serve the People" Opens in 4th Place at South Korean Box Office

According to figures released by the Korean Film Council on February 24th, "Serve the People" opened on February 23rd with 11,157 admissions at the South Korean box office. This places it as fourth at the South Korean box office, with the anime film Jujutsen Kaisen: Zero in first place with 26,936 admissions. The American films Uncharted and Antebellum are in second and third place, with 26,825 admissions and 12,217 admissions respectively.

None of these movies have put out especially impressive numbers, all of them having niche appeal aside from Uncharted which had opened the previous week. "Serve the People" has been a hot topic in South Korean social media due to its charged sexual content, but this limited controversy does not appear to have driven much movement in box office receipts. "Serve the People" is based on the Chinese novel of the same title. There are no current plans for an official international release.
