Viewers of the tvN drama "Queen of Tears" were shocked by an unannounced special appearance from actor Song Joong-ki on March 31st. But some of the surprise may have just been the character that he played- Song Joong-ki is identified as Vincenzo and appears to be playing the same role that he did in the popular 2021 drama "Vincenzo", as an Italian-Korean lawyer. In "Queen of Tears" proper, Vincenzo is apparently now a divorce lawyer whose services are requested by Kim Ji-won's character, Hae-in.

Her husband Hyeon-woo, played by Kim Soo-hyun, hires Yang-gi, played by Moon Tae-yu to be his own lawyer. Upon seeing Vincenzo, Yang-gi remarks that he is a terrifying figure, rumored to be the last child of a corporate family who escaped overseas to evade military service. However, Yang-gi says that Vincenzo's true form is as a mafia boss. Yang-gi further expresses confusion as to why Vincenzo even left Italy at all.
In the humorous scene that follows, Vincenzo speaks Italian and expresses doubt that personality clash can be used an an explanation for the divorce citing their similar temperaments. He suggested that they instead just cite their busy schedules and that they just stay as friends as they wish each other the best for their future. When Hae-in protests that she doesn't want to give her blessing, Vincenzo says no one else will either, that's just what they're going to say.
Aside from the Vincenzo character, Song Joong-ki also seems to be poking fun at the idea of celebrity break-ups. Song Joong-ki divorced Song Hye-kyo back in 2019 in a speedily designed legal maneuver that minimized the time the story spent in the news. Song Joong-ki remarried to a British woman in 2023, and they had their first child later that year.
