"The Day I Died: Unclosed Case" has whetted anticipation due to its cinematic style. This is clear not just from the poster, which features Kim Hye-soo cut off above the eyes wandering a mysterious forest, but from the reputation of director Park Ji-hwan. The premise of "The Day I Died: Unclosed Case" is based on Park Ji-hwan's 2008 short film entitled The Female Student, which won the grand prize at the 2008 incarnation of the Seoul International Women's Film Festival.
Park Ji-hwan was also the script supervisor for such eccentric films as "Castaway on the Moon", and "Haunters". Other noteworthy cast members include Roh Jeong-hui of "18 Again" as the missing girl, Lee Jung-eun of "Parasite" fame as her last known witness, and Lee Sang-yeob of "Once Again" in a role as yet unknown. The movie was produced by Warner Brothers.
