[HanCinema's News] "The Roundup" and "Broker" Hit Worldwide Box Office Leaderboard
By William Schwartz | Published on
A new report from Comscore lists two South Korean films as top worldwide performers. Comscore tracks the box office data from sixty-five countries, and has concluded, from those countries, that "The Roundup" and "Broker" are the fourth and sixth most popular worldwide films respectively for the weekend ending June 12th 2022. Purportedly "The Roundup" earned 7.5 million and "Broker" 5.2 million dollars at the international box office.

As Comscore is an American firm, it defines nearly all earnings from both "The Roundup" and "Broker" as being earned internationally. It's rare for any non-American film to hit the Comscore rankings due to that region's centrality in terms of Comscore's target audience. Previous such appearances by South Korean films into the Comscore rankings include "Ashfall" and "Exit - Movie" although "The Roundup" has exceeded both of them.
International markets are chiefly responsible for "The Roundup" having such a strong performance, with the cop action drama having opened in the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Mongolia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, and Cambodia in addition to its original South Korean market. The movie will release on June 16th in Thailand, June 22nd in the Philippines, and July 21st in Malaysia. International markets for "Broker" remain under negotiation.
