[HanCinema's News] "The Roundup" Breaks Nine Million Viewer Mark
By William Schwartz | Published on
On June 6th in its twentieth day of release, "The Roundup" was confirmed to have broken the nine million viewer mark. The ensemble cast of the action cop film released a commemorative picture thanking viewers for the success. The last weekend was the third straight where "The Roundup" led at the South Korean box office. The movie is almost certainly guaranteed to be the first South Korean film since the start of the pandemic to hit the ten million viewer mark.

"The Roundup" had been available for twenty days in South Korean theaters when it reached this point. This is a faster speed than the previous ten million viewer benchmark film accomplished the same theme, which was "Parasite" back in 2019. Both movies also hold the dubious distinction of being the only nine million plus viewer films to be released in May, which is normally considered a weak time of the year for releasing a blockbuster in the South Korean market.
