On January 27th the original webtoon version of "The Uncanny Counter" hit a major milestone on Kakao and Daum webtoons, where it is serialized. Cumulatively, the various episodes of "The Uncanny Counter" have now been viewed over 140 million times. According to analytics data, approximately 6.7 million individual readers account for these 140 million views.

The original webtoon version of "The Uncanny Counter" was the best performing action fantasy webtoon on these services upon completion of its first season. The story deals with various counters, among them the lead character, who chase down malicious spirits. Since the airing of the television version of "The Uncanny Counter" the webtoon version has seen a big popularity boost, and is now the best performing of all serial webtoons.

"The Uncanny Counter" television drama was itself no slouch in this department, starting with 2.7% ratings and finishing at 11% ratings. "The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch" was confirmed to be in production as soon as "The Uncanny Counter" completed. The author of "The Uncanny Counter" webtoon has stated that the two formats have rather different charms, and credited this ability to showcase different positives with their success.

The strong performance of "The Uncanny Counter" has raised expectations for other Kakao webtoon adaptations going forward. "Space Sweepers" is the biggest one, with the blockbuster film releasing worldwide via Netflix on February 5th. "Love Alarm - Season 2", "Navillera", "Imitation", and "Moving" are also based on Kakao webtoons and expected sometime this year.
